Author Guidelines

General Instructions to Authors

  • Journal of Indian Library Association (JILA) accepts scholarly publication covering research studies, review papers, research articles, current developments in the field of Library and Information Science,
  • Papers submitted to JILA, should not be sent for publication elsewhere till JILA editor send any decision to author.
  • Similarity Index should be less than 10 %. Copyright of all articles published or accepted for publication in the journal shall be reserved with the publisher / ILA.
  • A final PDF of the article followed by a hard copy of the issue will be sent to principal author free of cost on demand.
  • The author/s will be responsible for all views and opinions expressed by them in their articles / papers.
  • It is mandatory for authors to submit manuscript in MS Word via online submission system at:  http://ilaindia.net/jila/index.php/jila/about/submissions#onlineSubmissions
  • Author/s have to submit copyright form for their communication
  • Respond to any queries asked by editor promptly and swiftly during the publication process
  • Communications between author/s and the journal editor are to be kept as confidential until an editorial decision has been made final.
  • Author/ authors are solely responsible for the contents of communication
  • The manuscript of communication submitted to JILA must bein original, and not published before.
  • The final proof of the paper will be sent for correction to the first author. Only after receiving the corrected paper from the author it will be sent for publication.

Manuscript Preparation Guidelines:

  • Format: The submission file should be in MS Word document file format.
  • Font: The text matter should be in Times New Roman with font size 12 and single-spaced.
  • Length: The length of the paper should normally be within 5000 words. This covers all text content, examples, the structured abstract, references, all text in tables, figures and appendices.
  • Title: A title should be very clear, concise and meaningful to the contents. It should be in capital letters
  • Author/s:The names of all contributing authors should be added and list them in the order in which to be published. Each contributing author need following details:
    • Author/s name: Surname first, followed by first name and then middle name. It will be published same manner.
    • Author/s affiliation: Information where the authors are working, organisation name and place.
    • Author/s email address for communication.
    • (In case author is retired, the name of institute he served to be added indicating “Former”.
    • In multi-authored papers, all authors have made a significant contribution to the paper are listed. Those who have provided support but have not contributed to the research should be featured in an acknowledgements section.
  • Abstract:  Articles must include a structured brief abstract, covering explanations like: Purpose, Design/methodology/approach, Findings, Originality, utility / significance etc. The length of abstract should be within 250 – 300 words.
  • Keywords: Include up to 6-10 appropriate and short keywords that support the main theme / topics of the paper. (Please note, the in-house editorial team may replace some of them with matching terms to ensure consistency across publications and improve your article’s visibility).
  • Type/Nature of article: Indicate which type of communication is viz. Research Paper, Book Review, Review Article, Conceptual Paper, Technical Paper, Case Study, Critical Review, Literature Review, General Review, Analytical Communication etc.
  • Heading and Sub headings :All headings should be in capital letters and sub headings in the paper should be in regular manner

             REVIEW OF LITERATURE
             OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
             SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY
             METHODOLOGY
             ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA
             FINDINGS AND CONCLUSION
             ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS (If any)
             REFERENCES
  • Tables and Figures: All tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. Every table must be an appropriate and brief title and having numerical numbers. Column heading should be in bold.
  • Figures covers charts, diagrams, line drawings, webpages/screenshots, and photographic images etc. should be in good quality with appropriate title and numerical numbers.

  • Reference Citing: All references in manuscript must be formatted properly and accurately using APA Style Guide. All citations must be complete, accurate and consistent.
  • Language and Grammar: Language of the paper should be in English only. Author should be more careful in respect to the Spellings and Grammar.
  • Reference: The list of references must be at the end of the paper and in alphabetical order (as per style guide). Where a DOI is available, this should be included at the end of the reference.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
